About ADR

What is Audertist Originals

Audertist Originals is, at its core, a place for digital creations by storytellers of all backgrounds to find and connect with their audiences. Its foundational focus lies in the art of online reading and writing. To novelists, ADR provides a platform dedicated to composing and uploading their stories to a comprehensive online library, fostering a readerbase from all over the globe. To readers, ADR provides a platform to discover authentic novels and an opportunity to directly support the novelists they read.

ADR’s purpose is to be a platform that emphasizes community-based progression for the arts. This means acknowledging the communities that are naturally invested in our foundation and figuring out systems that would reward such progression. Trial and error will be essential as we explore this in practice.

What else are we?

As of 2024, we are a team of two writers learning what we can do to run this site independently and develop it towards our goal. It was never our intention to become web developers or marketing experts, but because of the current state of the arts, that was what we had to strive for instead of simply nurturing our art, regardless if we took this path.

We do not have the capital to hire the necessary personnel who could help us reach our vision. However, that does not stop us from piecing together what we can to achieve what we believe are our basic needs as writers and readers. If you feel inspired by us and wish to lend your skills, we would be delighted to have you on our team! You can head to the volunteer page or contact us through email at [email protected].

Who are we?

ADR CO-FOUNDER Beatrice

Valerie B. Trix or Beatrice/Beatrix is originally a creative writer turned full time site imaginer. Initially, Beatrice’s vision for ADR was a online chatroom group that would act as a writing circle for writers to come together and share support and feedback. Over time, that vision expanded as Beatrice began to start site development for a social storytelling site known now as ADR Originals. Now, Beatrice has adopted the role of official site developer and content manager for ADR and its related platforms.

Cheshir is a creative writer and artistic dreamer who tagged along for Beatrice’s ambitious ideas. Together with Beatrice, their focus is to help develop the nebulous plans of a storytelling site into a sustainable, collaborative place for accessible online novel production for all. Working to bring this vision to life, Cheshir is a content and social media production manager for ADR and its related platforms.

Why Make Audertist Originals?

Instead of turning to traditional publishing practices, KDP, or sites such as WebNovel and Royal Road, we decided to make our own website to set a precedent for writing in the digital age. We needed the space and freedom to experiment with the very customs and technology that we’ve grown up with. We want to write in a world where the arts are not shafted to the side as something to be consumed by marketing or production values. We want to see a world where the arts are not only creative, but also accessible. Although it is heartwarming to watch artists rise as victorious entrepreneurs well molded to the current framework despite all odds, that shouldn’t be the only story told. We need more avenues of success that aren’t parallel lines.

Our Aspirations (2024-2025)

This list exists to proudly share ADR’s dreams for future development. As creators, we understand just how frustrating the online creation sphere can be as we we are made by originally a small group of creative writers jumping from platform to platform, dissatisfied with the destined status quo. At first, ADR Originals was simply meant to be a place for writers to publish their works and generate some income with no exploitative contracts—however, it didn’t take long before we realized that we could be much more than that. Note: This list is the short version of the more exhaustive feature/aspiration list found on the beyond beta page.

These are aspirations that revolve around the Audertist website and will use virtual user involvement. Not only are these features practical for the writing community, but they will also ensure greater engagement on the site, which means more revenue for everyone.

Editing Hub

Premise: An online space dedicated for writers to commission community proofreaders to review their works. Ideally, these community proofreaders would be other writers who want to earn more coin or simply more practice. Special tests and links to helpful, accessible grammar courses would be included to help proofreaders keep track of their own abilities, as well as spur the average reader into discovering if they have a knack for proofreading as well.

Fan Art Direct

Premise: To make it possible to post fan art and links to fan art accounts directly next to the work in question.
It is imperative that the fan art displayed on the site are related to the original content of the site so that fan artists may also generate income from their posts without any legal complication. The inclusion of fan art, in whatever format, would also positively impact the related works, not to mention the relationship between writer and fanbase.

Mechandise

Premise: Streamline the process of offering and distributing merchandise that allows the writer to be closer to the creation process.
Aside from simply guiding writers through the process of creating stereotypical merch through sites such as Redbubble and Stickermule, it is also possible to provide a standardized commissions system where artists and writers can work together to satisfy fans. Centralizing commissions in this way may accelerate and encourage the process.

The Future of Audertist Originals

The short-term plan is to succeed as a website and implement our model of community support. This means a myriad of unsaid actions that will take years to accomplish based on our current capabilities. We will stick to our values as artists and prioritize the humanity of the arts in the meantime, accounting for the combined needs of the artist and the community that gathers around them. Please, please, hold us to this statement as we expand in the future. Our goals are much bigger than a website for reading and writing. We also want to tackle novel production, publishing, fandom cultivation, derivatives in other art mediums, and more within the realm of the digital creation sphere. Outside of the digital ecosphere, we want to help establish public libraries and art centers, fund art programs and indigenous art forms that have all but faded under modernity. We want to spark the beginnings of a new renaissance with human community at its center.

But that’s the future. Currently, the first of our platform ADR Originals, is its beta stage. Your feedback, support, thoughts, and ideas are all valued. We have an extension list of experimental features for you test out let us know how to improve or advance. If you wish to see our vision grow, please join us and witness our story.

Want to contact us? You can reach us at either [email protected]  or [email protected]. Or, for your direct convenience you can fill out the form and let us know how we can help.
