Dark Light

Chapter 8: Pearl Eva

In a land floating above space, many beings flew around boisterously wearing happy expressions, each having a halo on their head. But behind this peaceful land full of sky high enchanting buildings a dungeon laid behind it, trapping a being with a monstrous aura.

“🎶Tik Tok tik tok the clock ticked as time was slowly passing away🎶,” a beautiful dark skinned woman sang as she smiled happily. Her dark purple eyes held gold clocks inside, which gave her a distant air about her. Her short white hair flowed in the wind as she sang her strange songs. She sat inside a bright golden cage, strange robotic lines were on her body.

Her back had deep scars over where wings were meant to be. They had been horribly torn off.

Thousands of chains were in the sky, they were wrapped around the woman’s entire body, each chain having its own distinct glow.

“How long do we have to guard against this goddess?” A man who wore bright golden robes and had a hoop on his head complained as she stood before a large dark gate.

“Shhh don’t complain, even if it’s for eternity we must make sure that she never escapes.” Another man, in more plain robes, warned.

He sighed, “Everyone says she’s dangerous but I don’t see what’s so dangerous about her except the fact that she’s beautiful.”

“You haven’t heard huh? She’s the goddess Eva who destroyed 2 universes that were controlled by the higher gods.”

“And her reason?” The guard in golden robes asked.

“She said she was bored. From a merely failed mechanical robot, to the goddess of time and technology who had killed trillions of souls. She received the nickname ‘The Bloody Goddess.’ Her looks makes her look like a goddess who’s aligned with the holy gods faction. But don’t let that fool you, she’s more terrible than the dark god himself.

“If she’s more terrible how did they manage to catch her?” The man in golden robes had his hand on his chin, wearing a puzzled expression.

“Hah, more than 400 gods and goddesses lost their lives fighting her together, yet they were unable to kill her. I have never personally seen her powers but those who fought with her said it wasn’t a battle but a massacre.”

The guy in golden robes shuddered as he kept quiet.

Inside the bright golden cage Eva sat all the while singing. She had a slightly bothered brow since she could hear the two guards gossiping in front of her. She tried her best to ignore it however, singing on, starting to sing louder as an attempt to drown them out.

Eva then noticed a little fairy in front of her cell as she smiled cutely. Her entire body was pure white as she waved at Eva and Eva waved back quite with a confused expression that someone could enter her cell and survive.

In the past many infiltrated her cell to try and free her but when they did their bodies would corrode and turn into black smoke.

[ You’ve been chosen to be the White Diamonds Pearl ]

[ Do you accept?]

[Yes/ No ]

‘A system notification?’ Eva looked up at the screen, as she then looked at the little fairy still smiling.

‘That’s strange, it’s definitely not mine,’ she thought to herself.

“Is it hers?”

[You can be freed from this imprisonment, once you choose to become Pearl.]

“Hmm… What do you offer me then?” Eva asked as she looked at the little fairy.

[To be the master and servant of one of the most powerful beings in all the heavens.]

Eva chuckled, “Then why should I refuse?” She smirked sinisterly, “I choose yes.”

Eva’s body immediately began to be covered in a bright white light before she disappeared along with the fairy who shattered into pieces.

The guards before the dark gate looked inside the cell to see floating chains and no Eva since she had stopped singing for a long time.

The man in plainer robes gasped, his face turning pale. He shouted, “Eva has escaped! Alert the heavens!”

‘Ugh where am I?’ Eva grunted as she looked around.

She was in a dark void full of nothing but space and emptiness. Well, except for a bit of light far away. She squinted to notice the light source were bits of white glowing crystals protruding from the void.

As Eva was looking around she also noticed a lady moving towards her covering herself with a brown robe.

‘I could barely sense her,’ Eva thought surprisedly.

Before Eva stood up the woman who wore a robe looked at Eva.

“Nice to meet you Eva Grovel,” she said in a polite tone.

“Sure. Same or whatever. So, to get straight to the point, what’s the deal with all this Diamond and Pearl thing?” Eva rolled her eyes. Annoyed by the woman’s attempt at pleasantries.

“You are a curious child huh?” The woman smirked amusedly.

Eva’s eye twitched at being called a child but stayed silent, letting the woman speak more. She didn’t go any further since she could sense a dense amount of pressure coming from that woman. It was even more compared to the Regals she faced.

“I’ll tell you a bit then Eva. A long time ago there were ancient beings called Diamonds. They were beings that had the power to create life and also had the power to destroy it. And it’s still believed they exist to this day,” The woman raised her hand, dramatically pointing in the air, posing. She was clearly passionate about the history she was explaining.

“But that was all in the past. The main point is that you have been selected as the next generation Pearl. And you have no right to refuse. You can’t even die to escape this.”

“If diamonds are so powerful why haven’t I ever heard about them?!” Eva asked, doubt written on her face.

“That’s because they have disappeared for over 30 billion years,” the woman said, a saddened expression on her face.

“I don’t get you said they have disappeared right? Now I’m being chosen as a Pearl for a Diamond,” Eva said still a bit confused about the whole situation.

“Rather the next generation who was the child of a Diamond. You’ll be given the information once you become a Pearl,” the woman added.

“So how did the old generation disappear then?” Eva asked curious how these so called powerful being disappeared.

“Have you heard about the Regals?” the woman continued.

Eva gritted her teeth as she heard those words. Those beings were supposed to be gods who took care of the world.

“They were the ones who killed off most of the Diamonds,” the woman stated.

“I wouldn’t be surprised then,” Eva gritted her teeth.

But now they were beings that destroyed universes and planets, not caring about the lives they take.

They are gods who live to watch others suffer all the while living lavish lives as if they did nothing wrong.

They thrive off the pain of others. And they were the ones who destroyed her world. And no one can go against them since they are strangest gods in the heavenly realms.

“I swore to kill those bastards long ago, ” Eva clenched her fist, blood dripping down.

“But you couldn’t because you were weak,” the woman interrupted. She paused a moment before looking down, “My former master too was weak minded.”

Eva remembered when she was younger how she saw a bright light come down from space that destroyed her entire planet and body.

She managed to survive but she was near death’s door until she met a man who had silver eyes, gray hair, and gray skin. He had been the one to give her new robotic parts to replace her destroyed ones.

He taught her many things about technology which she learned enthusiastically. But all that changed when she came back from scraps to find him, her caretaker, her new father, battling two Regals.

Information about them was well-known since their reputation throughout their galaxy were being gods who kill at random for fun. People avoided them as much as possible. It was said that if you ran into a Regal to just accept death, if you begged to live they would kill you anyway or worse, enslave you.

After they beat him until he couldn’t even stand anymore, they started talking to him about something. It seemed like they were interrogating her father but once he refused to answer they slashed off his head before flying away. They didn’t even bat an eye or show a semblance of care, if anything it was the opposite. The two were laughing as they flew away, no doubt about his last moments.

As Eva dashed to his dead body she witnessed it shatter into pieces before the wind carried his pieces away. She didn’t even have the chance to bury him, to have a memorial site or anything. All that was left of him was a clock she gave her.

From that day on she vowed to kill all Regals.

So the day once she became strong enough she destroyed those two universes. She intentionally targeted them since that was the land where Regal children were cultivated. So she wiped them out. Thus angering many Regals who attacked her, eventually immobilizing her enough to tear off her wings. They couldn’t kill her since she would simply revive so they just locked her up.

“This is your chance to get stronger. You’ll train the new White Diamond Pearl and you yourself can also grow stronger,” the woman said in a coercing manner.

“But why was I chosen as a Pearl?” Eva gave a puzzled look.

“Because I like you,” the woman smiled.

“Sorry but I’m not into women,” Eva scratched the side of her head awkwardly.

The woman rolled her eyes, “Come on, amongst everyone I searched for you seemed to be the perfect candidate. I liked your passion and determination to grow stronger and exceeding the limits of your robotic body.”

“You also have unimaginable potential, tolerance and patience to manage the new White Diamonds,” the woman smiled.

“White Diamonds? Can there be two of the same Diamond?” Eva looked at her puzzled.

“If they are twins,” the woman nodded.

Eva sighed, “Doesn’t seem like I have much of a choice from what you said, but I have no reason to refuse. I’m just thinking of the benefits. I’ll agree, but I have one question. Who are you?”

“I’m Selenite, the former White Diamond Pearl,” the woman said, removing her robe. It revealed a strange body. One that glowed brightly with a white color, but several cracks could be seen on her body and face. As she wore a plain white robe.

Eva felt like she was loosing her sight as she stared at the beautiful woman before her.

“Would you want to fight me to prove my strength?” Selenite asked innocently.

“I’m good,” Eva replied immediately shaking her head in disagreement. If her pressure alone was this suffocating, she shuddered at what her actual powers could be like.

“Child you’ll now be my successor,” Selenite suddenly closed the distance between the two instantly, laying her hands on her before kissing Eva’s forehead. Once that was done she smiled before cracking into several pieces.

Eva shouted, “Wait a sec! I forgot to ask what Pearls even are!!”

[ Pearls are immortal beings chosen by the Diamond to be the aid of Diamonds. They are extremely loyal to their chosen Diamonds and never betray them. Pearls serve their Diamonds to complete adoration and obedience. They are the managers of their Diamond’s system. They possess extreme combat abilities to be able to combat their own masters at the very least during training and strive to aid their Diamonds in their work. ]

“Oh…I see,” Eva looked at the message awkwardly. She was surprised that the system was capable of answering things that weren’t direct questions.

[ You’ve received the former Pearl’s blessing. You’ll be transported to your space now.]
