Vol. 5 Ch. 12
by ameron-werschruxMany magic circles were releasing burning rocks.
Two of them were headed in his direction.
“CANCEL!”
A magic circle broke and the rock lost its flare, however, there was still one flaming rock.
“CANCEL!”
Another magic circle broke and the rock lost its flare.
“I can… I CAN DO IT!”
He focused on Oltrin.
“I just have to knock Oltrin out and that’ll make things much much easier for me,” he devised.
He switched his attention to Trif. He was simply resting and sitting on the ground.
“I just have to look out for him.”
Phize was sweating all over and was having a hard time catching his breath.
“I don’t really have much more stamina in me, so as much as possible, I would like this plan to go as smoothly as possible.”
With a sigh, he then barked out loud, “HERE GOES NOTHING!”
He scuttled to Oltrin, though, many flaming rocks were heading his way.
He shouted, “AAAAAAAAAH!!!”
“Why is he shouting? Is he that desperate?” Trif questioned in his own mind.
3 flaming rocks approached Phize.
“CANCEL!”
A flaming rock lost its flare and Phize dodged it, 2 were remaining.
“CANCEL!”
Another rock fell to the ground but one rock remained.
“CANCEL!!!!”
The rock passed by his shoulder.
He analyzed the magic circles behind Oltrin.
“I got some of them!”
Trif was stunned by his sudden rush.
“WHAT?! HE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME AGAINST OLTRIN’S SPELL A WHILE AGO…” he thought.
“So he managed to adapt to his spells too, but I’m sure he’s almost out of mana, so I’m sure he won’t be able to sue Spell Intercept sooner or later.”
“But this is actually looking like a dangerous situation, maybe I should step in… No, if I get in, then I’ll get hit by the spell, too…” he predicted.
He went to Yal and whispered a set of instructions, “If he manages to get past Oltrin, I want you to use Reject on him, and then I’ll take care of things.”
“Got it.”
5 flaming rocks were headed in Phize’s direction.
He was no longer thinking of cowering away, he smiled as the obstacles drew near.
“LET’S SEE HOW FAR I CAN GET!”
The first flaming rock drew near.
“CANCEL!”
The rock lost its flame and he sidestepped. The second approached him.
“CANCEL!”
The rock lost its flame and hit a hair follicle.
The third approached.
“CANCEL!”
The rock lost its flame and went under his legs.
The fourth approached.
With his usual action, the rock lost its flame and hits his finger.
“IK… The force of the rock hurts, not to mention, it’s still burning hot…” he judged.
The last one drew near.
“CAN-”
The flaming rock hit his forehead before he could react.
“Ah…”
The impact was so hard, that he fell to the floor, and his forehead was bleeding.
He was breathing heavily.
“4… I think 4,” he panted, “is my current limit. Canceling at close range is pretty risky, after all.”
“Maybe I should also consider dodging the actual rocks just in case I actually miss them.”
A flaming rock hit his shoulder joint.
“AAAAH!!!!!”
His heart and breathing went even faster.
“IT… HURTS…”
He slowly rose up.
“BUT I’M NOT GIVING UP…”
He glanced at Oltrin.
“I’M CLOSE TO HIM!”
He examined Oltrin’s condition.
“Wh-”
Oltrin was sweating furiously.
“He’s near his limit. I shouldn’t worry too much…” he assumed.
He looked at where Trif and Yal were resting.
“Now that I see it, there’s a part where the rocks don’t hit anything. And that’s where they are…”
He put his right foot forward.
“I’ll reach that point.”
He began running.
“Heal.”
His injuries have somewhat disappeared but some still remained.
10 flaming rocks were heading his way.
“CANCEL!”
The first rock lost its flare and passed through his right ear.
“CANCEL!”
The second rock lost its flare and headed toward his knee.
He dodged to the left.
“CANCEL!”
The third rock lost its flare and headed toward his chest.
He adjusted his body by turning it 45° to dodge the flaming rock.
“The rest of the rocks won’t reach me,” he thought.
The fourth rock lost its flare and lands a few centimeters away.
The fifth flaming rock passed through above his head.
The sixth flaming rock passed through to his left.
The seventh rock lost its flare and passed through above his head.
The rest of the rocks lost their flare but are quite a few centimeters above his head, this was because he entered the area where the rocks don’t reach.
Oltrin was nearby.
“I’m betting a lot of my magic here… Please work…”
“Disintegrating Bea-”
He aimed his hand toward Oltrin who was still sweating furiously but to his dismay, Yal stepped in and cast his spell, “REJECT!”
Phize was surprised, “CR-”
A magic circle formed from Yal’s right hand as he pointed it toward him.
“CANCE-”
A large amount of force pushed Phize away from Oltrin.
Whilst being blasted away, for he was slightly midair, he approached the ground slowly. His foot slipped on a rock causing his angle to change and his face rubbed the floor for the rest of the way.
“AAAAAAAAAAH!!!”
He covered his face with his two hands.
“MY FACE, IT BURNS!”
“AAAAH!”
“I can’t concentrate…” he thought.
His left cheek went red, gained bruises, and scratches.
“CALM DOWN!”
He was wheezing.
“CALM DOWN!”
His breathing slowed down.
“Heal.”
Some of the bruises and scratches on his face faded away.
“This should be my last time healing…”
He looked around while lying on the ground.
“I don’t hear any rocks falling…”
He got up a bit and looked toward Oltrin.
Oltrin was coughing severely while Yal was patting his back to ease the pain.
Blood came out of Oltrin’s mouth, whilst, Trif darted toward Phize.
“ENOUGH GAMES TRASH!” Trif yelled out.
Phize immediately stood up.
He cast a spell as fast as his mouth could go, “ICE SHARD!”
An ice shard formed on his right hand.
“I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR TRICKS!”
Trif slashed to the right.
Phize blocked with his ice shard. He went for a strike.
Trif sidestepped to the left and his two hands were holding the sword towards his neck.
Phize followed the direction, went to the right, and ducked along the way.
Trif made a half-rotation, brought his sword to the left, and aimed for Phize.
Phize blocked with his ice shard but the force caused his sword to break and Phize to stagger.
Trif stepped back.
He then ran toward Phize with his right hand now holding the sword and aiming to the left toward the ring.
Phize cast a spell, “ICE SHARD!”
An ice shard formed on his right hand and blocked Trif’s attack.
He then quickly retracted his sword and slashed to the right at the level of Trif’s head.
Trif managed to dodge slightly back.
“That was close,” he thought.
Blood dripped from his cheeks.
“An ice sword, a very cold and slippery item, lightweight but a bit hard to hold if your hand is not used to cold things. The wood sword is arguably better. The ice sword is brittle but sharp. I should be careful from facing him… An ice shard spell doesn’t cost too much,” he thought.
“DAMN YOU!” he screamed.
