Vol. 5 Ch. 15
by ameron-werschruxTaya stepped down from the rock wall she made. After she walked a few meters, she stepped down from the ring to the ground.
“HEY!” Hazel called out to her.
Taya gazed back. However, she chose to ignore her and proceeded to walk toward the waiting room.
“She fights Trif all brave and that but she’s no better than him…” she thought.
She sighed.
“People here sure are different from back there,” she mumbled.
The students of Team C went inside the same room as her. Hazel soon followed after.
The man announced more details, “WE WILL NOW BE PREPARING CLEAN-UP FOR THE NEXT BATTLE! WE HUMBLY ASK FOR YOUR PATIENCE! THANK YOU!” he bowed and brought his face back up, then proceeded to do the task of helping out with the cleaning team in the background.
Inside the waiting room, Hazel sat down on a chair and so did the rest of the students.
“It didn’t seem like we came out for a battle, almost seemed like we just went for a long bathroom break,” she perceived.
She pouted then mumbled more to herself, “Wish, they could’ve put more of a fight though.”
The door opened and from outside, Trif, Yal, Horka, and Oltrin enter the room. They were filled with scratches and bruises, as well as bandages covering most of the injuries. They caught everyone’s attention and sat down at the back of the room. Their mere presence was enough to give weight to the atmosphere around them, filling it with silence.
“For some reason, the atmosphere felt heavier,” Hazel deduced.
She took a peek at Trif and instantaneously turned her gaze away.
“Trif Guise, the son of Taneraf Guise, the third Heavenly Knight.”
She took a water bottle from the corner and drank from it.
“AAAH! That makes it all better.”
“Not even Phize could stand up to him, he might prove to be a troublesome foe,” she fathomed.
Once more, the man entered the room, which might as well be known as the game master.
“Hello everyone, as all of you know, the next battle will occur between Teams B and C. We are cleaning the stadium as of now, and unlike earlier battles, it isn’t as damaging as last time so it would take around 15 to 20 minutes to get it set up. And as usual, good luck to all of the participants.”
Once more, he left the room.
…
..
.
Trif took a peek at Hazel and turned his gaze away, seconds after.
“Hazel Paufia, the #1 student in all of the academics, her parents are unknown so she probably isn’t rich. I don’t care whether she’s the smartest or the most beautiful, what’s surprising is how she can fight so well. She seems like someone I can’t go easy on, unlike that brat,” he surmised.
He looked at the door.
“Gotta keep my guard up.”
16 minutes later.
The game master entered the room.
“The stage is set, are you all ready?”
Some of the students nodded.
“All of you follow me outside.”
They follow him outside. Much like last time, they gather in front of him and the men distributed the swords to them.
“POSITION YOURSELVES!” he shouted.
The people of Team B go to the left of the ring while the people of Team C go to the right.
“I’ll aim for him first,” Hazel thought.
“I’ll aim for her first,” Trif thought.
Both of them stared at each other aggressively.
“WE WILL BE COMMENCING THE FINAL TEAM BATTLE, IN 10 seconds… 9 seconds… 8 seconds… 7 seconds… 6 seconds… 5… 4… 3… 2… ONE! FIGHT!”
As their motives stated, they went ahead for each other.
“We both had the same idea,” she thought.
Hazel released a slash to the right.
Trif hit the sword to the left creating an opening. He tried to hit Hazel in the stomach.
She knocked the fist with her right knee.
She then aimed her left hand at Trif and silver spike objects came shooting from it.
Trif jumped back to dodge the pointy objects.
He chanted, “Forcefield.”
An invisible barrier deflected the silver objects.
An area of ground below Trif’s chin rose.
“THAT WON’T WORK ON ME AGAIN,” he perceived.
He directed the force field below him causing the ground to curve to the circumference of the forcefield.
“Who was that? Was that her?” he wondered.
“Right here,” Taya declared.
“Ganging up on me? How cowardly.”
“This is dangerous, I can’t take them both out,” he determined.
“YAL!” he cried out.
Yal was clashing with Whol.
“COMING!” Yal replied back.
“Gotta hold them off ’till then,” Trif grasped.
His forcefield spell wore off.
Taya cast a spell, “ROCK WALL!”
Behind Trif rose a big rock rectangular wall.
“What?” he wondered.
Hazel punched Trif in the face while he was occupied with Taya.
“ASTRAL FIST!” she cast the spell in her mind.
A flaming blue-greenish flame covered Hazel’s right fist as it hit Trif. He was pushed against the rock wall.
Crack.
The rock wall cracked upon impact and his face was left bleeding out. The force of the fist was enough to make him drop his wooden sword.
Taya cast a spell, “WIND STRIKE!”
Wind engulfed her sword as she released an uppercut hitting Trif up on the chin.
“Gh…”
He coughed out blood.
Hazel stroked him with her flaming fist in the stomach and his head immediately after.
“They caught me off guard…” Trif conceived.
He caught Hazel’s fist with his right hand.
Taya cast a spell, “STRIKE!”
A strong force of wind approached him.
Trif cast a spell of his instead, “Painless.”
His body glowed a luminescent red for a quick second and faded.
The wind stroked him afterward. Surprisingly, like the impact of the wind was nothing, he kicked Hazel toward her gut. Although, she was able to block this attack with her sword.
“What’s happening? Didn’t he get hit? He should be in extreme pain right now,” she mulled.
She cast a spell, “STRI-”
Trif ran toward Hazel and was able to get hold of her sword.
He pulled it out of her hands and threw it out of the ring.
Without wasting a single second, Hazel cast a spell in her mind and a wooden sword was back right in her hands. Taya tried to punch him with her left hand while Hazel attacked with her sword from the right. In the worst case, he caught both attacks.
“Impressive,” she complimented him.
He rapidly headbutted Taya causing her to be set back. She held her head in extreme pain.
He pulled her sword causing Hazel to be pulled along with it and kicked her in the gut.
“GAH!”
She managed to pull the sword and backed away.
“What’s happening?” she wondered.
She held her stomach tightly.
“His hand is carrying a lot of the blows, how is he able to catch them?”
She observed his fists.
“As I expected, his fists are as red as a tomato.”
“Just because you’re a girl, doesn’t mean I won’t hit you,” he spoke out.
She coughed, “Not so much of a gentleman, are we?”
“I have no qualms about being a gentleman or hitting a girl,” he boldly stated.
Taya rushed Trif. But a sudden announcement came up, “BALTA EXIS NILE AND WHOL AHASCIO HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED! 2 PEOPLE REMAIN IN TEAM C WHILE TEAM D REMAINS UNSCATHED.”
“What?” Hazel wondered.
Yal finally arrived at the scene, now near the three of them, “Forgive me for this boss. REJECT!”
The spell resulted in Trif, Hazel, and Taya being launched back in their respective directions from Yal.
Trif got launched to the rock wall, Taya to the far end of the ring, and Hazel was approaching the end of the ring and outside of it opposite Taya’s direction.
She cast a spell in her mind, “STICK!”
She placed her hand on the ground right before reaching the area out of bounds.
“Ow…”
“What just…”
She looked over to where Balta and Whol were unconscious. They were resting on the wall just below the seats of the stadium way, way, way far out from the ring.
“How did they get there?” she wondered.
Trif stood back up.
His attention was toward Hazel, “Yal, tell the others to take care of the other, I’ll take care of this one personally.”
“GOT IT!” he replied.
“This battle is going to be tricky,” she thought.
