Vol. 7 Ch. 18
by ameron-werschruxHe yawned as he was still half-asleep.
He was in a small house and beside him, he saw Trif.
“GYAH!”
He fell off the bed from shock and then he stood up and saw him sound asleep.
“Oh, it’s just him.”
He explored the house.
“Where are we? What happened?” he wondered.
…
..
.
He remembered, “Ah right, we ate too much and fell asleep.”
He peered at Trif.
“This is the first time I’ve woken up before Trif,” he figured.
He smirked.
“Is this a chance to take revenge? He’d never even know that it was me. I definitely should,” he schemed.
He thought deeply, “But what spell should I use? Hold up, I have the perfect spell.”
He smiled maliciously.
“I’ll use Hasha’s spell.”
He chanted, “Illusion Point.”
His hand glowed blue.
“I’ll draw a mustache on his face. This’ll destroy this man’s honor. I’m so evil, it makes me excited.”
He went to Trif, but just as he was about to draw on his face, Trif grabbed his arm and woke up.
Trif asked, “What are you trying to do?”
“Uh, nothing exactly.”
“Why is your finger glowing? You were going to try and write on my face, weren’t you?” he intelluctualized.
“Uhhh…”
He innocently smiled at Trif to try and get his favor.
He… failed and got his arm crushed.
“YOOOOW! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!” he yelled at him.
Trif let go after he had enough. He got up from the bed and went to the door.
He said, “I’ll gather the others,” and then he left.
“Ow.”
…
..
.
Trif appeared at the door with Lili and Hazel. The two girls, were completely fine, not a scratch, bandages weren’t even needed.
Trif ordered him, “They’re prepared, brat, let’s go.”
“Go? Where?”
“We’re getting our reward, we’ll be going to the Adventurers’ Guild. Now pack your things and follow us.”
“I don’t have any stuff leftover.”
He joined the group right away and they headed to the Adventurers’ Guild. They were in front of the receptionist.
The receptionist explained to them, “I thank all of you for saving the village! Not only that you managed to defeat Tara Disnal who had a bounty of 500 Fers! Though normally, you shouldn’t have interfered as per request of the Contract of Children Adventure Protocol No. 3351 signed by Eauvis Monsoor and Jashin Metra, head of the Adventurers’ Guild. But then again, by another contract namely, the Heroi-”
Trif interrupted, “Just cut to the chase.”
“Ah yes, I’m sorry. Since you saved our village, you shall be rewarded with 10,000 Fers! And a raise to your rank!”
The three of the others cheered, “YES!!!”
The man continued, “With the additional finishing of requests such as the search for 10 Thysine Roses, you get an additional 10,000 Fers!”
They cheered, “WE’RE NOT BROKE ANYMORE!”
“And then by calculating all received requests along with your recent feat, you’re final rank would now be… Rank C.”
This caused quite a shock to all of them, “WHAT?!!”
Lili complained, “WHY IS IT SO LOW? WE DEFINITELY DESERVE A!”
“WE RISKED OUR LIVES OUT THERE!” Hazel reasoned.
“THAT’S RIGHT! WE DID A LOT!” Phize shouted.
“EXPLAIN THIS!” Trif demanded.
The man replied, “Woah there, I get that all of you are concerned for your rank. But the higher ranks require higher types of experience, and I’ve done all I can to give a good name to your group. Don’t worry, if you do more rescuing events like these, you’re sure to reach the highest rank in no time!”
They were grumpy, they thought to themselves, that their hard work was underappreciated.
“Now, you all did great. Also, if you’re wondering about the bandits that invaded, we’ve already called the authorities, and they’ve already been sent to prison. I’m really happy for all of you and I’m sure the village feels the same.”
The whole party calmed down.
“If you don’t mind me asking, just what were the bandits? What were they here for?” Phize questioned.
He replied, “Tara Disnal and her men were part of a dark organization called the Mages of the Underground.”
Trif commented, “If they call those people part of a dark organization, that just makes me worry for the world’s powers.”
Phize responded, “Wait, if they were a group, why were there only 9 people in total? Shouldn’t there have been much more if they were sending out groups?”
The receptionist proceeded, “According to the village head, Tara and her men were out to hunt Spellmaster, and they seem to have been ambushed because when they came here, her men were injured already.”
One specific name caught Lili’s attention.
“Who’s Spellmaster?”
“Oh, he’s a very volatile man. He’s rumored to have control over any and all magic spells, hence the name. His background is unknown and has been fabricated by the school he attended. Not many people get to see his face because they all died at his hands. He’s currently the most wanted man in the world, he is accompanied by 4 people, they don’t belong to any dark organization, in fact, he is hunted by almost any organization, those of good or evil. He poses a threat to even the Gracious Knight of Heaven.”
“Any and all spells? Isn’t that way too overpowered?” Hazel queried.
“Recently, there has been an uprise of organizations upon his presence, that includes his own, he has formed a large group of 600,000 people and counting. Right now, he may even be second to any Grand Witch or Demon Lord that has ever existed in human history, the first one being the ancestor of all witches, Haydel.”
Phize gulped.
“Not only is he apparently regarded as the most powerful man in the world, but he also has an army? I would hate to encounter this guy,” he thought.
“I doubt anyone like that actually exists. I bet someone’s just using rumors to make him sound like an all-powerful being,” Lili replied.
“I hate to say this, but I agree with Lili, something like a power to cast any and all magic would be far too much for any being to withstand,” Trif responded.
“If he does exist, then what does he look like?” Hazel interviewed.
“There have been no official captures of him, but what’s regarded as the most accepted theory of his appearance, is that he has silky white hair and gray gloves.”
“Enough of the rumors. Can you give us the money now, please?” Trif retaliated.
“Ah yes, sorry for making all of you wait so long. Here’s the money.”
He handed them many bags of coins. They opened them and there, the coins shined in front of their faces.
Everyone in the party excluding Trif celebrated, “WE’RE RICH!”
“Pardon me for asking, but if I may ask? What do you all plan to do after this?”
The party members formed a circle in front of the receptionist and they whispered to each other, then they came to a conclusion and faced him.
They nodded to each other and they all answered him, “WE’RE LEAVING THIS DAMNED VILLAGE!”
“EHHHHH?!”
