Vol. 7 Ch. 22
by ameron-werschrux“Following the primary colors, I see…” Phize thought.
“Are those… slimes?” Hazel asked.
“They look weak… LET’S KILL THEM!” Trif barked.
Phize replied, “Bloodthirsty as ever,” he turned to Lili, “What do you say Lili?”
He was astonished, “Eh?”
Her tail was wagging and she stared at the hopping slimes, in admiration, that is.
He asked again, “Lili?”
She snapped back to her senses, “OH!”
She excused herself to cover up her display of affection for said monster, “What? I-I’m not thinking of keeping those slimes. T-Those are monsters.”
“Oh yeah? Your tail says otherwise.”
“M-MY TAIL?!”
She became self-conscious of her wagging tail and she tried to stop it. She noticed that all of her party members were now staring at her, Phize with an adored expression, Hazel in awe, and Trif quite disappointed.
“S-STOP LOOKING!” she told them.
“She can be cute at times too, huh,” Hazel surmised.
“Geez, let’s just keep searching.”
Phize responded, “Yeah, we should. Trif, where do you thin-”
He saw Trif slaughtering the slimes one by one.
“NOOOO!!! THE SLIMES!!!” she screamed.
Her tail whimpered.
Phize was surprised by her sudden panic, “FWEH!”
He yelled to Trif, “HEY TRIF! DON’T KILL ALL OF THE SLIMES!”
“THEY’RE MONSTERS!” Trif retaliated.
“He really is a big jerk…” he perceived.
She became teary-eyed.
“WAS SHE ALWAYS THIS EASY TO CRY?” he pondered.
He pat her back along with Hazel, “There, there…”
Hazel told her, “Don’t worry, Lili, I’m sure you’ll find a slime to tame and pet.”
Trif went back to them.
He spoke, “Tsk, such a crybaby.”
He held a green slime in his left hand.
Lili saw it and her eyes widened, “A-A slime…”
“There, you can stop crying now. Plus, I didn’t kill all the slimes.”
“R-Really?”
“Yeah. Now don’t go crying on me, or I’ll ditch you. Here.”
He gave her the small green slime. The slime approached her and gazed at her. She prepared to embrace it, however, it only shivered in fear. She placed her hand on the ground facing upright. The slime still shivered, but after a while, it calmed down, and slowly hopped to her hand. She smiled and her tail wagged.
Phize and Hazel found her reaction cute, “Awww…”
Lili was startled by their reactions and slowly looked at them, her face very red, “Forget this ever happened. If you ever speak of this to anyone, I will kill the both of you.”
The slime snuggled on her lap. Her face brightened up.
Trif spoke, “Sheesh, we have no time for this. Let’s go and find the monsters for our quest.”
She asked, “Can I keep the slime?”
“No, you can’t.”
She sighed, “I had my fun.”
She let go of the slime and it hopped away from her. They proceeded on their journey and passed by many slimes, then they saw a large boar-like creature, it had long horns coming out near its snout.
Phize said, “There it is. The Piphus Orgala.”
Trif analyzed, “It looks aggressive.”
Hazel asked, “What do you think we should go with? A sneak attack or bait?”
Trif replied, “We should follow through with the latter.”
Phize followed up, “But then who’s gonna be bait?”
Then they all remembered that the slime was initially scared of Lili, so they all stared at her.
“Hm? Why are you all staring at me like I’m some kind of anomaly?”
Phize spoke, “Lili.”
Hazel spoke, “Lili.”
Trif told her the news, “Lili, we have a short task that we want you to do. You have no right to object.”
“You guys are acting like creeps, just tell it to me straight.”
…
..
.
Lili was slowly approaching the large monster.
“On second thought, that may have been a mistake. I DON’T WANT TO DO THIS!!!”
The three of them were watching her from afar.
Phize shouted, “YOU’RE DOING GOOD, LILI!
Hazel cheered on, “JUST KEEP GOING!”
She retaliated, “IDIOTS!”
She sighed and proceeded walking towards the monster. She trembled in fear.
“I’m near enough…”
She gulped.
“HEY!”
She caught the monster’s attention, but it ignored her.
“HEY!”
The monster did not respond this time.
She was furious inside, “Why you..”
She picked up a rock and threw it at the monster. Sure enough, it turned around quite infuriated at her.
“TAKE THAT!”
It bolted toward her.
“GYAH”
She ran away from it and went towards the three.
She screamed, “HELP ME!”
Trif stated, “I know what to do… Brat, Hazel, stay away and prepare in case something goes wrong. LILI, GO PAST ME!”
“IT’S CATCHING UP!” she screamed.
“RUN FASTER YOU IDIOT!”
“DON’T CALL ME THAT, YOU JERK!”
She went past him and the boar-like creature was nearby.
He mulled over, “So what should be the most efficient way to kill that thing? Should I punch it to death? Should I use Explosion? No… I’ve already got it.”
The ground was shaking beneath him as the creature approached him.
He thought, “NOW!”
He jumped to the left and directed his hand to where he was.
He chanted, “CONJURE SPIKES!”
The ground rose and formed pointy figures directed at the creature. It tried to stop, but because of the build-up from its running, it only barged into the spikes.
Crack.
The spikes detached from the ground, but pierced its shoulders, cheek, and neck.
“Gottem.”
The creature shrieked and went wild, though it fell to the ground after expending its energy. It bled out ’till its death. The party went near the recently deceased creature.
“That was quite smart if I do say so, myself. Not bad,” Lili praised.
“Doesn’t use too much magic either,” Hazel continued.
“Hmm, and it doesn’t have too much risk for the party, except for the bait,” Phize examined.
This alerted Lili.
“Please don’t let me be the bait again.”
Phize and Hazel stared at her with glowing eyes. They clearly did not have the best intentions.
“You jinxed yourself, missy,” he replied.
“The plan is working perfectly with you as bait. No changes from hereon,” Hazel said to her.
“NO, NO, NO, CAN’T ME AND HAZEL SWITCH PLACES INSTEAD?” she asked Trif.
“Hm, no, I think you would be best as bait. For a couple of reasons.”
…
..
.
She was standing near a flock of Piphus Orgalas.
“I hate my team.”
